White Light Scanning
The process of 3D white light digitizing is very complicated. There are many measurements that white light scanners can analyze to create a model such as fringe contrast, frequency domain analysis, and fourier analysis. White light scanning uses imaging interferometers to measure optical path difference. First, the scanner sends multiple lights towards an object. As multiple scanner lights hit the object, “interference” occurs between the lights. The difference between the lights is measured and the scanner is able to formulate digital coordinates of the object The white light scanner compares millions of points on an object, so it is a very precise representation. . The data is stored and acts as a 3D model which can be utilized in CAD software.
